The Heart Failure Center
James A. Sandberg, MD, Medical Director
Catherine E. York, RN, MSN, CRNP
The Heart Failure Center was established in
1998 to treat patients with Congestive Heart Failure (CHF). The Center has grown
to a registry of nearly 1,000 patients.
At The Heart Failure Center, a team of physicians and nurse practitioners work
with a special patient population. These patients require careful monitoring to
ensure medical stability and to maintain a high quality of life. Our nurse
practitioners adjust and optimize medication, recommend medical testing, and
monitor patient progress.
At the Center, we provide disease management, the opportunity to participate in
research studies, support groups, and patient and family education.
Often times, CHF patients need device therapy —I CDs and biventricular ICDs. Both
types of devices are used in patients to help minimize the risk of a sudden
cardiac event. Patients of The Heart Failure Center who are candidates for
cardiac devices are referred to our qualified electrophysiology team.
